In 1903, Dr. Stanton Allen and Lynde Bradley invested $1,000 to start the Compression Rheostat Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. By 1909 they renamed it Allen-Bradley and the iconic bulletin numbering style became embedded in North American industrial language. Bulletin 500 pushbutton stations launched in 1920s then PLC-5, SLC 500, then ControlLogix (1999) ushering in the Logix5000 era and todays modern PLC platform.
